It is very rare to get hired onto a music video as a location sound recordist, so this was very exciting for me. Most of the time, all sound is from the musician(s) and is mixed in during post-production, For music videos with a narrative, like this one at the beginning, location sound recordists get to come in and do their thing just as they would for a feature film or documentary.

All sound recorded on-location. Noisy bar, non-actor subjects--28 of them--and late night shoot all knocked on the door with their challenges but we were all happy with the final product. During pre-production, I made the suggestion to change from a boring ol' plain news gathering omni mic to the sweet looking--and sounding--Shure 55 vintage condenser mic. She looks great out there, doesn't she? Also, great sound for a moderately priced condenser vocal mic.
